if they find out, which is quite easy, you will not be covered, they wont pay out on any claim, and you will be put on a register of people who no one will insure in the future.
As long as your not to young..... the insurance isn't to bad. Theres alot of companys that just do disqualifed drivers.
I know as i 've a DR60 and mines 25 or there abouts a month. My last company wanted 1,150- thought I was never gonna get on the road again.
john, dont me a mug...tell them the truth and save yourself the hassle. Drink driving is quite serious, if they find out out, as normanthedog says, you will find it very difficult to get insured elsewhere, and if you do the costs will be nuclear!

Honesty is the best policy.
Why should it be the insurers business anyway, it wont effect the future of the person with the insurance unless they were drunk and crashed while insured.

I think insurance companies have taken all this too far, they get free money every year from honest drivers and for the last 7 years my wife has paid close to 500 per year for nothing. Not a crash, bump or even whiff of a claim, yet they still need to ask pointless questions.

The need for insurance is to replace a car if written off to its current value, if it was no fault of the driver involved. End of story.

rant over :P

If you don't tell them, you may as well not be insured at all, they'll only refuse to indemnify you if you have a claim for witholding a material fact anyway.
