If i am 25 and have fully comprehensive insurance, can i automatically drive other cars or does it have to say it on the policy?

Many insurance companies no longer include 'any other vehicle' as standard because they were being ripped off by couples who would insure the cheap old banger belonging to her and drive round in his 'go faster' coupe without bothering to get it insured.

It must specify on the policy - and very often this is restricted to 'in an emergency'. The example the insurance company gave me was if the driver was taken ill whilst I was a passenger, I would be able to drive the driver home or to hospital.

It may alternatively be stated on the Certificate of Insurance where driving restrictions are detailed.

You need the other owner's permission, of course. And the other vehicle has to be insured

well it is my car and i have fully comp insurance, my boyfriend was driving it the other night, he is 25 and has fully comp insurance on another vehicle?

You'll need to check his insurance documents to see if he is covered - as the posts above describe.

What dzug was saying is that even if he is insured he still needs permission from you (as the owner) and your car has to be insured on its own policy - so you're ok on these two fronts.

Still down to what it says on his insurance documentation though.
