I am 37 and recently suffered a heart attack. I am on the mend and want to go on holiday. Does anyone know if I will be able to get holiday insurance and should I mention my heart attack?
I agree with Peter in the fact that you have to declare your medical condition(s) upon applying for insurance. If you don't, and something untoward happens, you policy is probably null and void. However, I think that you can get insurance, but the cost is going to be escalated because of your medical history.
i just taken out 2 insurence this year, they only intrested if i been in hospital in six months and any chest problems that needed treatment within 2years b4 i took out policy.you may well fall in this catagory.you must tell them cos they look for every reason to weasle out of paying up
My Dad is in the same boat, he has been unable to get insurance due to a heart problem. You can apply for a E111 form from the post office, it may help provide funds to assist if the wort happens whilst your away. Also, might be worth asking your GP.
My partner has diabetes and I've really had trouble getting travel insurance, they seem to have cracked down a lot if you read the wording for medical conditions. If you google for travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions, you will find quite a few companies out there, but I reckon it'll be expensive, if they'll cover you at all. I think the one I went with was Free Spirit.
