When you get your windscreen repaired for 'free' if you're fully comp' does this count as a claim, and therefore lose you your no claims bonus at point of renewal?

hi,
im insured with swiftcover and i had to claim to have my wind screen replaced. i paid the 65 excess but i will not lose any no claims bonus, however, when i renew my policy i will not have earnt any no claims bonus for this year as i claimed for my windscreen.
best bet is tp speak to your insurers.

Windscreen or Glass claims are only for full replacement or chips etc not for scratching.
Under the vast majority of UK Car policies repair is generally free (although more and more Insurers are now imposing a nominal 10 excess for repairing) and replacements are again charged at your full windscreen excess amount (generally circa 60 or so).
If the claim was made under the Windscreen coverage you will not lose any NCB and the previous post of not attaining this years NCB year is also incorrect with the vast majority of Insurers - typically because of the low cost to the insurer to penalty is made to you as a customer (apart from your excess).
It becomes slightly more complicated if your window was smashed as part of a theft/attempted theft. If this is the case and you have claimed for other damage (i.e damage to the door or stolen items within the car) then the claim is treated as a claim under the theft/attempted theft section and this will affect your NCB (unless protected - although will still lose a life so to speak).
