Car A Write Off, Insurence Wants Me To Pay Excess To Keep Vehicle!

i had a crash n they sed my car is a total loss, they said if i want to keep the car and fix it myself id have to pay �570 excess, is this right :S

If you didn't keep the car and took the money, would they deduct the excess before they paid out?

yep, theve offered �1150 for the car..... but will take �570 excess from that so ill get like �600 looooooool
Yes - that is exactly what excess does - reduces your pay out by that amount.

I don't think you mean excess do you, are you saying they offered you �1150 and when you asked to keep the crashed vehicle they said they'd deduct �570? If so they are saying to replace the car would cost �1150 and they could sell the crashed vehicle for �570 in any way they can. So they are saying if you prefer you can take the crashed car off their hands for �570, think of it as 2 separate transactions. The �1150 is what they value your car at, probably after deduction of any excess on your insurance policy. �570 is what they will sell the wreckage back to you for. When they say "total Loss" they mean uneconomical to repair.
