Have had car insurance for a while but not had it since Aug 2007, due to a knee op.got new insurance in Feb 2009, where I stated I had 4 years no claims bonus up until Aug 2007, so basically had no insurance since 2007, but told my insurance I had 4 years no claims, is my no claims still valid?

You will have to confirm this with your current insurer. A lot of insurance companies though will allow the NCB for up to 2 years after your last policy expired.
