M.O.T no show
8 Answers
My mate picked a car up for his Dad that he'd just bought.
The car was on S.O.R.N and had no M.O.T he booked it in for an M.O.T that day but broke down on the way so did'nt get there, I had to tow him home.
Now here's the crux of the matter he thinks on the way a Police car fitted with A.N.P.R spotted the vehicle but never stopped him to ask what he was doing.
All the paperwork is correct, the booking is all above board and available, the logbook has been sent away and he's covered to drive any vehicle with the owners consent on his own fully comp insurance, but because he did'nt make it to the station does that invalidate his road legal status?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.this is pretty complex everton,if the police had any inclination that the car was being driven illegally they would have stopped him,my guess is that the police car that saw him wasnt traffic police,if they were they would have stopped him as the car registration would have flashed up on the on board computer that is fitted in ALL traffic police cars...make no doubt about it if the car is declared sorn it WOULD have alerted the police and he WOULD have been stopped.the vehicle is declared as being off the road, thus rendering any insurance null and void...if i were your mate i would get the local scrap merchants involved...and get it down to the breakers yard....on the back of a pick up....
The car's solid and far too good to scrap, blocked fuel filter, it'll be on the road next week, just with the no show I dunno where he stands.
It was Volvo estate (biggun) with the black boxes on the top which I always thought were the A.N.P.R the police car was going in the opposite direction so maybe they don't face forwards, time will tell I suppose.
Congrats on staying up.

lol thanx everton......if it was fitted with a.n.p.r m8 he WOULD have been stopped, they recognise number plates whether they are in front of you [coming on the opposite side of the road] or behind you..they have cameras fitted in the rear number plate...have a VERY close look when you pull up behind a traffic police car next time.....
