Replacement TomTom
4 Answers
My TomTom 910 has just come to the end of its 3 yr extended warranty. Just after Xmas it had to be sent away (via Comet's where I bought it) as it had no power. 4 weeks later it was returned, supposedly fixed. A few weeks later the screen either blanked out totally or went grey, or as I drove along it powered off on its own. 3 weeks ago I had it sent off again, during this time the warranty ran out. The unit that has come back is a different 910 (differing serial number). No expanation if it is brand new or refurbished, why it was exchanged etc. Should they have provided me with an upto date one (as the wife says) or at least an explanation plus a further extension on the warranty of this unit (as I think). Happy to have the same type, albeit it has been superceded a few times over. Its just to see who is probably right. Me or my wifey? Thanks

new for old - or fix?
there should be a jobsheet somewhere ...
but if it was broken ... and now it works ... It seems they did their job.
the guarantee is fixed term ... you pays your money ...
If guarantees stacked you'd only ever have to buy one ... and then just keep breaking it at the end of the guarantee.

As AC says check the warranty terms carefully to see if they have complied.
However in my experience with warranties I have found that a replacement/ repair of a defective item is only warranted until the end of the original guarantee period.
So for example if your original extended warranty runs out tomorrow and your replacement dies a couple of days later then they would take no further action.
