I have been the Policy Holder on Car Ins for many years and Husband is Named Driver. I no longer drive the car and Husband uses it for work. Can anyone advise me of Ins Companys who will allow me to transfer NCB to him and have him now as Policy Holder, without costs going through the roof? When have asked companies before, their quotes came back as for 'First time Driver'. Thanks

No company will allow this.
Direct Line will offer a discount to named drivers on their policies based on no claims discount, but of course you need to have been insured by them for several years to get any benefit.
The problem is there is no proof that the named driver actually drives the car. If you tell them you haven't driven for a certain period then you will be in danger of voiding your insurance policy. The insured driver must be the driver who drives the most.
I have found companies who are quite happy to swap the bonus to your spouse particularly if he was a named iver in the past. They usually require a letter from you confirming that you agree to forego your bonus and pass it to your spouse. You cannotthen transfer it back at a later date. As my experience is as a broker I do not use the internet based insurance companies or quotation systems. See if your local broker can help.
