Insuring a beach hut on its own appears to be very expensive (about 380 for 4500 insured). Does anybody know of an insurance company which will add insurance for a beach hut to a normal household buildings and contents policy for a reasonable premium?
Are you trying to cover 'building' and contents?
I doubt any insurer will simply add the hut to your home policy.
The premiums will be high- I would expect there is a risk of flooding, fire (if wooden) and break-ins when the property is unoccupied.
You might be able to get contents covered though as 'temporarily removed from the home'.
I am of the opinion that the insurance company would not be keen on including a beach hut under your household buildings policy.
This is because they would consider that the beach hut is not actually part of your household buildings, given that it would (probably) be quite a distance from your main home?
I agree with factor that the contents may be covered(I say only MAY) but not the beach hut itself.
Many thanks for the advice. As I suspected it is going to be difficult to insure because of possible risk. I have discovered that Towry Law do provide insurance but naturally it is expensive.
