I am trying to get contact details for an insurance company called ENsure (not Esure), I purchased a car for my wife and was only given one key, the person I purchased it from had bought it from an online auction site so I contacted the previous owner and he told me the insurance company "Ensure" had written the car off. He claims that he gave the man who collected the car for the insurance company, 2 keys and the booklets etc. so I thought that if I could get contact details for the insurance company they could tell me who had collected the car and I may be able to get the other key as the one my wife has is really worn

Hi, you would be quicker getting a key made, take it to any Auto shop that Cuts car keys.
It is a good job that you have got the key with the red chip as, according to the handbook, this chip enables you to start the car without the immobiliser activating and you need that key to get others cut.
Hi John
Is this a Chubb or Tibbe key? The code of the key can be read just looking at them. Chubb is spikey one, Tibbe is faceted type. 5 depths of cut (including no cut and full cut) Was other problem sorted out? It was 6-4-63 I think?

Hi Al,
Once again you saved one of my family, I gave my son that and he said it worked, it's nice to know that some people on the A.B. are there to help whilst others, (no names given) just want to cause trouble, I think you know what I am referring to!
The key is a long round one not a flat one, if that makes sense, I think this is the one which you called Chubb, it looks like a piece of thin rod with notches cut into it. (I'm not very clever am I? I'll put it down to my age as i'm over the hill and I'm too set in my ways)
cutting the key is the easy, bit but its a PATs antitheft key and it will need programing/coding without that it will open doors but not start the engine. Depending on what key came with the vehicle determines how it is programed

that will work if the red orignal key is available also depends on the year, after a certain year there was no red key issued just 2 black ones which are both needed to recode a new key
Nice Job John. No problem at all.
Yes, some people like playing god here.
I think you actually have a Tibbe (Chubb type stopped on most Fords about 1986-7)
Chas is correct .. If you have the red chip PATS you can reprogram a black from that.
A : )
If that was directed in my direction Stanbesida, the comment I made was not intended to be sarcastic etc, I said it in good faith.
