The cheapest I got was with 'EGG'

Try the comparison website...gocompare...or confused.com
or try googling Call Connection
Everyone's car insurance has gone up this year, sorry - and your having a claim will have put your No Claims Bonus back by 2 stages, unless you have bonus protection cover. Worth shopping around to compare prices - we do every year - try one of the car insurance comparison websites (although not all the companies subscribe to them, but worth a look). You will have to declare your claim of course, but some companies' rates are better than others - all depends on your vehicle and driving experience, etc.
pretty well everyone's car insurance goes up at renewal, that's because they effectivley give you a discount to get you in the first place then they rely on apathy thereafter. Especially prone to thiis are those paying monthly. Shop around each renewal, there is no reward for loyalty. Although having a claim doesn't help either of course, even NCBP doesn't completely protect from that.
Use the comparison sites, direct line aren't on there, you can see why now!

Mine nearly doubled with Cornhill. Changed to Churchill and saved £320
