Hello All. I have just received my car insurance reminder and it has gone up by £100!! so I have been looking around for a cheaper quote. I have come up with a company called Hastings who offer a substantially lower price for the same service as my current provider. Has anyone used this company and can give me any advice?.Thanks S.O.G

no, but they're a fairly well known company, if that's any help.
Make sure it is a full like for like policy ie excess, windows covered, courtesy car if needed etc
Yes we have used them in the past and they have been ok. We find this rise happens each year though and we have to shop around so we've had a different insurer for each year for the last 3 years. Just received renewal from Swift cover, £600 last year - £1589 this year!!!
chelle, i thought mine was bad when it doubled, but yours is steep, i shopped around and got mine cheaper with the aa
Hi gina, yes we have shopped around now and have got quotes from £600 upwards.
Don't think we've tried the AA though so will try them too thanks.
Hastings Direct? Wouldn't use them. A friend of mine took out car insurance with them but, when paperwork arrived, it wasn't the cover he had been quoted for. It took them AGES to refund his premium and they were not pleasant to deal with.
Incidentally, am I the only one whose car insurance is slightly LESS this year - same cars, same cover? This with More Than.

Possibly eddie - don't expect it stops your premiums going up though!

insurance update. I phoned my current insurer yesterday and said I wouldn't renewing my policy with them because they just keep hiking their prices up each year.I was quite surprised at their answer...they didn' try to haggle at all and said ok and thanks for your .custom in the past. I sent all my details to my new insurer who had quoted a much lower price (150 less) and decided to buy online...the quote from my new insurer started at £275 fully comp against my current insurer who want £460 so naturally I went for what appeared to be the better deal. However by the time all the add ons were calculated ie legal services ncd protected etc the price wasn't that much cheaper £393 against £460 so . However something is better than nothing I suppose .Such is ripoff life > S.O.Gso I guess I'll have to go along with itI haven't saved as much as I thought
