  1. Paste (or type) the link into your answer.
  2. If it is not recognised as a URL (i.e. isn't underlined) try typing a space at the end of it.
  3. Select the entire text of the URL.
  4. When the URL is highlighted type the word you wish to use as the link.
  5. If you want more than one word you must type the phrase as one long word and then go back and put in the spaces.

          This is the end result

Note, this applies to IE. It doesn`t work with Firefox.
Note, this has been asked repeatedly before and should have appeared in a list of questions at the "do you really want to post this question?" section. If not, my apologies.

Further note, especially to stevie21:

I had no intention of answering this question in full, prefering to use a link to one of the previously answered threads, but since a cursory search to find one proved fruitless I thought it useful to supply a repeat of the solution.

Success!

Glad you got it sorted.

Also, kempie, I'm glad I wasn't cheeky with my reply then!  haha

Seek and ye shall find

LOL

Ah yes stevie21 you could find the previous answers using Threads I'm involved in or Q's I gave answers to whilst us lesser mortals have to rely on the (not quite adequate) search feature ;)
That would be too cumbersome, kempie.
I used google : advanced search, search only this site, and search for certain keywords.
I never thought of that... good tip.
