Weathertool

Have any other Abers come across this piece of software - I want to remove it from my PC but when I try to do so from my 'Add/Remove Program' list on my PC locks up! Having 'Googled' it I see at least one (possiby paranoid) user seems to think it is invasive spyware. Any thoughts? And how in the name of Alan can I get rid of the damn thing? Eye thankew.

But more generally, if you think you have any spyware on your PC, try running Spybot or Adaware. These will hunt out and remove spyware, diallers and other undesirables from your PC. Every time I run them I find new bits and pieces that have found their way in from the Web.
Both programs are available free through download.com.
Cheers Dave, but I'd tried those already. Last night I spent (wait for it) 11 (count them with me) ELEVEN long hours attempting to eradicate it, using CW Shredder, Adaware, Spybot S&D, Bazooka, Spyware Blaster, Spysweeper, NAV and anything else I could find to chuck at it. I'm not sure but I think it may be part of a suite of particularly stubborn bits of spyware lumped in with CoolWebSearch, MySearch and god knows what else. I'm too tired to think right now and I can't remember all their names but weathertool HAS now gone, although the pooter is only about 99% clean. I feel a bit of registry editing coming on - be interested to hear from anyone else who has had similar problems with this little sucker, or CoolWebSearch and its many variants...
Hi Dave, I also have this blasted backdoor trojan and am also have great trouble getting rid of it ! every time I think I'm getting somewhere, as soon as I reboot the bl00dy things back. I fairly sure I need to edit the registry but not be too wll up on these things I am a bit reluctent. If you have any sucess yourself let me know what you done please.
both of you do a ctrl-alt-delete if you got XP and make a note of running processes then look up any suspicious one on http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/task
list.htm good luck.
list.htm good luck.
This is for Jenny Tools and anyone else who needs it. All the programs I used during my trojan-busting session can be found here - http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/
and here - http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
and of course as stated by daves there's gallons of stuff over at www.download.com. Best of luck!
