Hi,

I currently work as a Civil Servant in an office job but would really love to become an events organiser for charities/radio stations etc, arranging events such as charity abseils, bungee runs, that sort of thing. I dont have any experience in events organising, other than arranging minor events within my workplace for Red Nose Day, Jeans 4 Genes etc.

Can anyone give me some advice on how I can change me job without having to take time out to train (I have just bought a house and could not afford to stop work).

Thank you

I would strongly recommend you going to work in a hotel in the conference and events sales department, in the back office.
The training is great (in most of the major chains)

The pay isn't great but they will teach you valuable skills you will require if you wanting to get into this feild.

Good luck with it

Thank you both for your advice. Chris, I have checked out that link and sent off for an information pack about apprentiships. The information provided on the link itself was very useful. I will also look into hotels in my area and send them my CV.

Thanks
If you would like to be an event organizer then for that you have need to get the good experience about how to make an event successful. Apart from that if possible for you then you should work with an branded event planning company like : http://www.romafunctioncentre.com.au/event-hire-moorebank-nsw/
and from there you can get the good experience.
