I am about to apply for a position with a Housing Association which I really want badly. I have a diploma in housing and several years of experience in the field, however they have stipulated in the application that evidence of all qualifications will be required. I no longer have my exam certificates for my o levels (I took them in 1982) and can't even remember what grades I achieved (never needed to) Had a very traumatic last year at school and grades suffered!) Any advice on how to approach this with them in a way that they will not hold it against me!
maybe just be upfront with them and provide copies of all qualifications that you do have, and say that you are very sorry, but you no longer have your O'Level certificate as it was so long ago. However if they really think it is necessary, then you can contact your old school who may be able to let you know who the examining body was.
I can't see what relevance O'level results have when later qualifications quite obviously supercede these!
If you are talking about exams you took at school in 1982, most employers do not ask to see this type of qualification after 5 years of you taking them. Your employer would most likely want to see evidence of more proffesional qualifications ( your Diploma in Housing) or any higher education you acheived at College or university.
I Work in the Housing field and often interview people and I only ask to see school qualifications if they are school leavers or as stated above within 5 years of them leaving school.
Don't stress, complete your application form and put all the qualifcations down you can remember from school.
