How long does a qualified nurse have to work to specialise?

Hi I am a student nurse about to qualify with a diploma but am wondering does anyone know how long I have to work before I can specialise and do I have to get a degree before I specialise. Thanks for any help.

as far as i know you probably need the degree to become a specialist nurse, but i dont know about time limits.

You need to do your degree before you can 'move up' as far as I'm aware.

When i had my interview to get onto the nursing diploma I asked what the difference between that and the degree was, and the tutor told me that you would have to 'top up' to a degree if you ever wanted to move up the ladder or specialise.
i was told in my interview that if i wanted to specialise i'd need to be "seconded" to another speciality first
