in my line of work a RIPA is an application for authority to conduct covert surveillance on a person/persons for a specific period of time.

A curious question with some curious answers. R v Turnbull is the leading authority on how the courts should approach the question of disputed identification. As Sara3 properly points out RIPA is the legislation which governs applications for covert surveillance operations. I would love to know what the connection is between them - are you going to keep us in the dark Martymod?
