I am thinking of studying for a medical secretary diploma with Pitman training. So far it sounds pretty expensive so i would like to know if anyone knows if this is a reputable company and if the qualification is recognised by employers in this field and won't be a waste of money & time? Thanks in advance.

I can`t help you very much I`m afraid as far as modern day practices are concerned but when I studied business studies, Pitman was a very reputable system of learning typing, audio typing and shorthand.
I started doing a course in book keeping with them a few years ago. You go into a room with maybe 20-30 people sitting at desks with headphones on, all studying different things. There was a tutor in the room and although he explained what I had to do, I can't say for sure he knew everything about what everyone was doing. I didn't find it really worked for me so I stopped going but if you are more happy to study on your own it may be good for you.

Pitmans training with IT & shorthand is much in demand in secretarial/journalism/commerce/business world. If you enjoy the subject you can move faster thru training and thereby lessen the fees by qualifying quicker.
