spelling mistakes in your dissertation

I've worked so hard for the past three months on my dissertation. I've wrote up 15,000 words and after proof reading it several times, I felt happy with my work that I got this professionally printed. Re-reading over it, I've spotted,no joke, so many mistakes, its unreal. Spelling isn't my strong point evidently obvious from what I have wrote. Does anyone know how badly this will affect my final grade? Thing is I spell checked, I proof read and somehow still keep finding mistakes. I'm really worried. I don't want to email my tutor about this because i'm hoping some of this will go unnoticed. :( I feel SO stupid.

We all make mistakes espesh in a big essay like that

I did have a comment once telling me to read over better as i had a few mistakes and unfortunately you do loose marks :0/

Thing is a few marks for presentation and the floe of the essay can be the difference between a pass and a fail - youve done sooooooo well to write as much. If you have the time ...id print again hun i really would xxx

It's difficult to say without knowing the subject of your dissertation and the university that you're attending. If it's on a scientific subject and you're at a modern university, then you may be OK.

Personally, I'd fail anyone who thinks "I've wrote" is correct, but that's just me...

Do you have anyone who can help you read over it? Sometimes when u have read and re read the same essay you begin to miss mistakes....?

Mabye grab a few mates and split it up and they can read it and change mistakes?? Treat them to a vino for it xx

As far as I know, it's the content of your dissertation that's important, unless of course your dissertation is on English literature and grammar!! I must say, though, that your spelling isn't bad, but your grammar isn't very good.
i.e. You've WRITTEN up 15,000 words, it's unreal from what you've WRITTEN. Luck may be on your side, if your tutor or examiner weren't too hot on English themselves. Fingers crossed for you.

Tinks is absolutely correct, and she speaks from personal experience! If you knew that written English isn't your strength, you could have asked for help
here. I, and several others, would have been very happy to proof-read your dissertation...

I dont have anyone that would read over it for me. I'm so upset.
AM I defo have grammer issues, I always have. I've never been that good at it. It will be noticed because three people mark it. Guess it's my own fault really. Thanks tho.

I have an in-law who is unable to spell.The reason is that he is dyslexic.He is clever at mathematics and is capable at practical matters such as woodwork and has designed and built his house extension.
I think that English spelling should be revised so that our children could learn to read by saying what they see. French and Italian children learn to read very quickly.

I think there will be a cap on the number of marks you can drop on presentation/spelling etc so if the actual content is really good you might be ok. sometimes worth paying a professional proof reader... you will know for next time
