The young lady from Durham who won £10,000 on Deal or No Deal today said that the money would pay for her tuition fees to qualify as a teacher. She said that she is already working as a teaching assistant.
The amount of £10,000 seems very little to me as universities are now charging £9000 per year.

Maybe she has already got a degree and needs to do the one year teaching course?
She did say she was working part time during the day in a shop, and was going to Night School to qualify.
The fees are £9000 for students starting this year. When she did it the fees would have been around £3000 a year.
Besides, I take what people say on these programmes with a pinch of salt- they have to give a reason that sounds good- no-one ever says it will feed my cocaine habit or I'll spend it on computer games and nights out
Sorry, i didn't realise she hadn't already qualified. Fees will be £9000 now in England but she may get a bursary and if she already has a degree it would only need a one year PGCE.
