I am almost there...having found the title of the work and the nouns but am stick in SE corner....
41 A Most lavish plants are deadheaded in fort (6)
Although we have to lose 1 letter to put reusltant word in the grid
I have FE?ST
pretty sure that the FT and are correct being FORT into which plants without the first letter are put?
Am sure the S and T are coretc. Maybe the F is wrong?

17D Has agonised emotions in the bounds of Scotland (6)

i have ?PA?G?
