How can I do GCSE courses/put a programme together??

I missed 4 yearsof high school and as a consequence got G grades in my GCSEs (apart from a D/C grade in English) I feel like I want to commit suicide as I can see no way out of this. How can I fix my education? If I do GCSEs at college then how should/would I put a programme together and who would help me? What subjects should I do and how long would this take me? How could I catch up on cooking...or what a CV is ...etc??
if I chose to try to catch up via doing GCSEs by home tuition again how would you recommend I do this? How many years would this take me? I would't have a clue how to do this. please help

The best thing for u to do is get in touch with ur local college. Just go and pick up a prospectus, most college's will run GCSE courses for adults who wish to re-take them. Depending on how old u are, u may or may not have to pay (under 19's get free college tuition if they go full time).

In regards to which subjects to take it's up to you. the 3 core GCSE's that employers always want are english maths and science, anythin over that just depends on what u want to do career wise.

Once your in college you'll find tutors are generally very helpful and will go out of their way to help. Most colleges are required by the government to run a 'key skills' program which all students must to. this is a brush up on english maths and I.T. I.T is very helpful as it includes things like how to type a C.V correctly..

Can i ask how old you are and why you missed out on so much schooling?

I was poorly during high school and as a result stayed at home from second year right through to the last year, which is around four years as well. I didnt take my GCSE's either, but when i was 18 i went back to college and did GCSE English Maths and Art, and AS Sociology. Now,im not saying my results were great, they werent but it has helped when putting something down on my CV.

It took a year to do altogether, so no matter what age you are its not a huge amount of time.

After i finished college i went on to be a full time Waitress which i loved and my future ambition is to own my own bar!

Now i am in my second office job, my first i was in for two years, and neither job depended on what GCSE's i had

i'm 18. I became depressed after my Grandma died...and I got seperated from another person of whom I was very close to. I became really depressed and stated to find it difficult to go into school especially since I wasn't really being looked after properly at home either. I got behind...and me not attending school on-and-offf carried on for 3 years. no-one helped me and I was still very depressed. I coildn't cope at the end of this year and ended up being at home with 2 hours tuition per week. I'm so scared. my life's ruined.

willow your life is not ruined, so get that thought out of your head now, you are not stupid and you obviously want to do well, get onto a local college and ask them about courses available,you are very young,think positively, I left school at 15,without taking any exams, I own two houses and have allways worked, I was classed as thick at school, so if I can do it so can you, good luck, Ray

Willow, you are great, you have recognised within yourself that your upbringing or current lifestyle has not helped you towards your goal in life. There are people in their 20's,30's and 40's just realising this fact and getting an education. Wipe the slate clean, forget the results, and start again. All is not lost, and suicide? when people who have a bright future contemplate suicide, what they really want is to "stop the world I want to get off" sit on a bench in the sunshine, with the sun beating down on your face, feel a warm glow, think about your strategy for your life, and say OK world you can start again. None of us obviously get that luxury. But that's what you need, not death and knowing that Derek Akora will be the only celebrity or even person you may come across.

Hi willow22, muy daughter lost her education through bullying, she started by taking for free the City and Guilds level 2 qualifications in English and Maths equivalent to a GCSE C, they are free at your age and Learn Direct will be able to help you, they can also advise of free computer courses in your area, once your eighteen you can do any course with ICS but its expensive and time consuming, once you reach 19 you will be able to do either part time or full time a access to higher education which will raise your general levels of education to A Level standard and on to University, its designed to help people who missed out, good luck.

you asked this question about 15 times (about once every 3 weeks), every time people give you advice what do you do with it? Have you spoken to anyone at your local education authority?

The time that you took off school varies as much as your age too.

Spend your time doing something productive? If cookery is just a subject that you want to learn so you can feed yourself rather than use towards a career then learn that in your own time and concentrate on getting basic GCSEs to enable you to get a job.

When did you take your GCSEs? I would be interested to hear what you have done in the time since you took them
