PE lessons may directly target obesity
3 Answers
PE lessons in England may face a shakeup with a view to target obesity. Under new plans schools would be able to offer a wider range of sports and activities to get more children exercising. The number of hours set aside for PE will also rise from two at present, up to four hours by 2010.
Suggested sports include games like golf, cycling and archery.
Education secretary Alan Johnson also wants a greater understanding among school children about the link between exercise and health.
Do you think that these plans would help lower obesity levels in England? Or are they more a case of too little, too late?
