I just had to attend an Aptitude test which consisted of a data matching test and a basic numeracy test. I did excellent on the data matching, but i know i failed at the numeracy. I have always been bad at numeracy despite the fact that I am a uni graduate. If i had a calculator, i know i would of performed well. I just can't seem to work things out in my head and i'm quite slow on rough workings on paper. When i see a mathematical question i can usually work out the method, but have trouble solving it, esp' without calculator. Does anyone else have problems with numeracy ? Anyone in same posision as me ? Would should i do to improve my numeracy ? Please help.
No sarcasm with me. I too have problems with numbers - words and spelling I am brilliant at, crosswords, quizzes and anything that requires logical thought, all that I can handle with ease, but give me a numerical problem - even if it's something simple like 67 + 78 - 32 - and I fall to peices.
I disagree with espookid. By today's standard Alfie's text is very good.
With numeracy above a basic standard you've either got it or you haven't. Someone with your apparent intelligence, Alfie, should be able to learn mathematical techniques for the short term, ie., long enough to pass an exam, but unless you use the techniques frequently you will soon forget them. I'm the same. Good luck, mate.
