We have a break to Centerparcs(sp) booked 29 oct. When it was booked by a friend, she got the dates wrong(shouldve been half term). My daughter would miss 4 school days.We had to fill in a form for permission for her to miss school and we`ve had a letter this morning saying they will not authourise it.Im going to ring them first thing monday, any ideas about the best way to approach this?
Hau kola , what a pity your planned holiday is causing you so much hassle. My son left school too long ago for me to be able to give you any ideas but I really hope they listen with a sympathetic , understanding ear . I do remember that at my sons school they were not allowed hols in term time and some parents were cross when their childs teacher went on safari for 3 weeks in term time , leaving them to manage with supply teachers !
I know that acceptable reasons in our area include educational trips and family reasons - e.g. if the family has been under a lot of pressure and need a break. This is seen to contribute to the childs well being and increase their commitment to learning when they have gotten family issues eased. You couldn't come up with an acceptable scenario about needing to strengthen family relationships to avert a possible crisis? I would use every reason that you can up with all together and give it your best shot.
Hi mrrobbo, its not actually that much cheaper because Wales and i think,Scotland are on hols.
Hi annie,im well thanks,i understand what you are saying and yes,i could come up with something, but like others have said,it might be out of the schools hands if theyre following guiddelines.
Hi Kola - I know they have to follow guidelines, but there are always exceptions to those guidelines - rules are made to be broken! what do you have to lose? Might as well try everything that people have suggested.
I am going to Whinfell forest w/b 8th Oct - will I see you there?
In Scotland the local authorities in each area have chosen different weeks for the october holiday, so we are lucky in that there are not too many other areas off the same as our week. It would be good if this was spread out everywhere, although holiday places and companies would probably just raise the prices for 4 weeks instead of 1 or 2.
See, told you you were going!!!! - we've never been down to sherwood forest, we keep going back to whinfell - it is only a couple of hours to drive down form bonnie Scotland and it is great for the kids - just noticed that the kids clubs only go up to age 7 though, so i guess that this will be our last year of getting a meal on our own ;0(
