could somone tell me the balanced combustion equation for hexan-1-ol? ive got the non balanced equation
C6H13OH +O2>>> CO2 (g) + H2O (l). if anyone could help id be very appricative. thanks :)

This is how you do it.

First of all balance the carbon atoms. You've got 6 on the left so make sure you get 6 on the right. Then balance the hydrogens in a similar way but remember there are 2 hydrogens in each water molecule.

Now add up all the oxygens on the right and (remembering there is one oxygen in the hexanol) get the correct number of O2 molecules on the left.

It's been a LONG time since I did Chemistry at school but this works:

C6H13OH + 9O2 ---> 6CO2 + 7H2O

6 Carbon atoms on either side,
14 H atoms on either side,
19 O atoms on either side.

Fingers crossed, it's correct :)
