I trained from "ohm" to be an electrician after getting a "spark" of interest from seeing a "plug" in the newspaper for a course. It was "shocking" at first and I had to "switch" from my "current" job but it was down to "earth" and I found it not at all re"volt"ing. So "wire" you still reading? Go for it!

It would not mean getting an apprenticeship. I work in a College and we have plenty of older students (some way older than you) training in the evenings to become electricians, none of those are doing apprenticeships. If you do the right courses you end up fully qualified.
Even if you did the course you are on about, you will have the qualifications but still won't have any practical experience.
