chances of getting a job as a counsellor???

Hi, I was hoping someone may be able to give me an idea if I was to start college course to become a counsellor if after I have qualified there is scope to use my qualification. Just worried as I know a lot of people there days have qualifications they can't use. I am currently in full time employment working for DWP, but look to start the process next month of qualifying...thanks
