Bad hygiene food ratings - would it put you off?
16 Answers
There was an article in our local newspaper naming and shaming local takeaways/restaurants with bad hygiene ratings. The local Chinese we've been using for 3 years scored zero!! Their inspection was conducted in March so how long do they have to rectify things? It got me thinking how filthy it must be in there. We've never been ill from there but it's really put me off eating there again. I think it should be made compulsory for takeaways/restaurants to display their hygiene level sticker on the door (the ones who get 5 stars tend to do this anyway).
Have a search for your local takeaway, you might be surprised.

It was once the case that if you went into a caff and the tea lady didn't have a fag in her gob dripping ash into your cup, whilst the owner guy was not picking his nose or scratching his bum before buttering your corned beef sandwich, you would feel yourself short-changed.
like the hotel, care home inspectors, they come in see that everything seems ok, give a rating then go away again, but does that prove the outlet is clean all the time, no it doesn't. Even so called good restaurants have been caught out. i think it was one of Jamie Olivers restaurants that came in for criticism, and wasn't Heston Blumenthals mega expensive place shut for a time because diners became ill
