Coach Trip
22 Answers
Just back from a smashing break in Scotland on the banks of Loch Lomond.
Cannot praise the company highly enough. Comfortable coach knowledgeable and safe drivers lovely room and good food. Entertainment every evening and excursions included. I haven't had a lot of experience of coach trips in the past - just a Christmas Market tour and an overnight break to see the tall ships - as we have always gone by car. I find long trips by car quite tiring now as the only driver and they seem to take longer and longer to recover from. If this trip is an indication of the quality of organised coach trips we will certainly do it again. Anybody else had such a good experience?

I've worked in Folkestone on several occasions, interviewing people on a footpath/ cycle path just down the road from a big hotel used by National Holidays, who operate coach tours from (what I believe is) your part of the world, GG. I have been on a few trips with GB Tours and they are really good, especially the Isle of Wight trip last year. Traditional roomy hotel overlooking the sea, three course dinner served by friendly waiting staff and entertainment every night I would have been more than happy to pay for. All in all a very enjoyable experience, especially as it included trips out and even an afternoon cream tea. All this worked out at just over £40 per day - beat that!
I love Scotalnd, but haven't been back there for more years than I care to count, so that certainly seems worth looking into. I visited Skye and the Highlands many times in the Seventies and must psych myself up to return.
Thanks for the recommendation granny, it sounds right up my street.

They're also amazingly cheap. For example (a year or two ago) I was meeting people who'd travelled from northwest England for a 3 night stay in Folkestone, with dinner bed and breakfast, in a good hotel with evening entertainment provided each day. (I've stayed there myself; it was really nice). The holiday included a tour of Canterbury and a hop over the channel to visit Bruges. The entire cost was just £99 per person!
Looking at what they've got coming up from Blackburn (which I believe is near to you) shows the following:
2 nights in Scarborough £99
3 nights staying in Wolverhampton, but with visits to Hereford & Shrewsbury and an evening tour of West Midlands Safari Park £99
3 nights to Loch Lomond and the Ayrshire Coast (staying in Prestwick) £99
3 nights to Oxford, Stratford, Royal Leamington Spa & Banbury £95.04
2 nights to the Cotswolds £99
2 nights to Cardiff Bay and the Wye Valley £119
1 night to Warwick Castle & Chatsworth £79
1 night to Beverley Market & Bridlington £69
1 night to Ironbridge Gorge & Severn Valley Steam £79
1 night to Stratford & the Cotswold £59
1 night to Skipton Market, Hawarth & Emmerdale £59
1 night to Banbury Market & Oxford £69
3 nights to York & the Yorkshire Dales £99
. . . and those are just the really cheap holidays available before the end of this month! There are loads more available later in the year, as well as more expensive (and longer) trips to Ireland and to the continent.
Worth a look perhaps?
