Does anyone use and can recommend a knee support?

I have arthritic knees which are getting more painful and interferring with my gardening.

So many to choose from and I don't want to make things worse.

I've tried both the elasticated pull-on type and the ones which use velcro to hold them in place and neither sort did anything for me.

Trying to find the right one is a hit & miss affair.

I sometimes wear an elasticated knee sleeve but I had tried many different makes, cheap ones,  expensive ones still I found something that suited me.

Thanks. Looks as if they are not much use then.

No one seems to rate them so will just keep using the embrocation.

Elastic bandages can give some support without restricting movement as some of the heavier ones can do.

Might be better for you when bobbing up and down in the garden.

It is important to use knee pads or a cushion if you kneel down for more than a couple minutes, though.

I do think it's worth trying a knee support, you might get some relief from it.

Try one with adjustable velcro straps

Thanks, barry. I have a kneeler with sides to get up. I couldn't get up or down without a kneeler.

Knees are painful after weeding for a while. Have bad mobility and wasting disease and didn't want to try anything which would make things worse.

Think I will try one with velcro straps.

Good for you to keep going, Gill,  it's easier to give up and that really doesn't help.

Perhaps do the weeding with a hoe, and don't kneel down.

I use a heavy duty neoprene/Velcro one with hinged metal sides.  No good for gardening though as it is too rigid.but great for really bad days

Never give up, barry. Live alone and try to do most things.

Can mow lawn with crutch in one hand and mower in other but not able to stand and use hoe. Also, you still have to get down and clear them away.

Not really suitable, rowan. Will just have to restrict kneeling time to an hour. Knees have only just started to be painful. Can do without them joining in too!

You may find the velcro fastening supports pinch at the sides and behind the knee when kneeling. The elastic bandage costs pennies and really works.

I speak from experience.

I think most gardeners who hoe the weeds just leave them to get absorbed into the ground rather than pick them up.

I am full of admiration for you, Gill.

Just do what I have to, barry. Thanks .

Needs must.

Front lawn cut yesterday plus some weeding. That's ok maybe for small weeds, hopkirk, but mine are pretty big and, as I said, can't use hoe.

Love gardening so will continue to do it. Can't say the same for housework though!
