workplace racism

i work in an office where the md is indian hindu and he employs a banglaseshi muslim.the md is almost daily complaining about the muslim beliefs,eg praying so many times a day and openly verbally abusing various aspects of the muslim culture in my presence. i am english however am offended by what i am hearing as i should not have to listen to this in the workplace.i have complained to the md twice by email asking him to stop,however the office culture is such he has 2 other people on his side who join in this verbal bullying.is there anything else i could do to stop this ? ido not want to lose my job over this,when i have complained in the past there is no response at all.

Don't know the legal situation am afraid, but it sounds like religious intolerance, rather than pure racism. Religion is not part of race - especially in South Asia.

it is still illegal discrimination on the grounds of peoples' religious beliefs - or lack of.

The person being harrassed (which is also an offence) should deal with it. It will never be resolved. Someone will end up leaving and then suing for constrauctive dismissal. It will be worth a few grand for you if you win
