Change of job at work
0 Answers
I work for the N.H.S. in theatres. Myself and four other guys are employed as porters. We are employed under the Agenda for Changer rules. We are short staffed and have been for a while now. The trust is as many are Broke... We have been informed that there might now been finance available to employ an extra porter. They also require a domestic worker for the weekends. The problem now is that our team leader is sugesting that our jobs are combined. We object strongly to this. As far as we can see there is no safe gaurd against this happening under the Agender for change rules. Our union steward is reluctant to give us any help on the matter. We are not impressed by that. The same situation occured in another trust some years ago. ACAS were asked to assist us. I have tried them and they too seem reluctant to help. I personaly think the only choice that we have is to refuse and then opt for unfair dismissal if we are sacked as a result. I am in the position of being 4 years from retirement after 41 years in the service. This would mean that I would then loose my right to retire at 60. I wont bore you with the details But my health would mean that it would be very doubtful if I could get another job also because of my age. That would mean a serious drop in my retirement benifits and loss of my pension. Any help in finding out anyone that might be able to help me would be really appreciated. It`s bad enough that the Agenda for change has left us some of the lowest paid in the health service as it is.
