Planning a route on a blank map
I have recently spent 2 weeks travelling round Ireland in a campervan and want to plot where we went on a map. However most maps have too much info on them and it would be hard to see a highlighted line on them.
Does anyone know how I could plot the route on a less detailed/blank map?
Thanks.

I have to produce maps showing people who deliver directories (such as Yellow Pages) where they must go. I scan and print the maps in black and white. (I do that by selecting the 'greyscale' option when scanning). Then it's easy to use a standard highlighter pen to mark the routes.
Alternatively, of course, you could use good old-fashioned tracing paper (either to help you create a 'blank' map, or simply to produce an overlay showing your route).

Thanks very much Zacsmaster but it is an A4 type map I am looking for so I don't think that would work ie there is way too much detail.
Thanks to you too Chris and I think your suggestion is what I am after although I don't have access to a scanner. Could I get a greyscale option when printing a map off the internet anywhere?

Thanks for your reply, Shivvy.
Most printer drivers offer a 'grayscale' ( - horrid American spelling! - ) option. When you've got your map on the screen go to File > Print. There should be a 'Properties' button there. Click on it and you should see a box marked 'Grayscale printing'. (You might have to find the relevant tab if it's not displayed straight away). Click to put a tick on the box and then click 'OK' (or 'Print').
Alternatively, of course, you could simply print the map in colour and then get a black & white photocopy at your local library.
