what kind of job is it? its easier to expand on answers and say how its your dream job if its a decent post in the first place.
No
I struggled with my last answer ...
or it could be a way of making you think you need to ramble on so they're seeing if you can get straight to the point with it, again depending on what kidn of job it is. If the position requires you to be decisive and concise then they may look for that in your application.
did you manage to do a word count, CaptK?
(Why put all the question as your title? I haven't worked out why so many AB users people do this- I assume AB has a technical problem with some browsers.)
Anyway, what was the question on the application form?
!500 characters (presumably including fcommas, ull stops etc.) is only around 250 words

well if you have answer there question in less than 4000 characters your doing ok.

maybe they had people putting in applications with loads of stuff that wasn't needed ,had a rethink about how to deal with it and this is what they came up with.

Thank you for all your answers, the job is within the Prison Service and they go on competancies, i already work for a Gov. Dept but these competancies are totally different to last set i did. Very hard questions to answer, its taking me hours to do :-(
hmm, in that case, maybe try and add a bit more, you don't want to seem like you've rushed it and not cared, wen you've spent hours on it.
Check your spelling too- for example 'competenacies'. I think they will be looking for strong evidence for each competency: examples of situations, how you dealt with them and why you did it that way. I'd go for a minimum of 300O characters (circa 500 words) in the circumstances.
