THere are lots of jobs which are suitable for nurses and indeed i met a lot of ex-nurses using their medical knowledge in various jobs for usually better pay. Often they work as trial monitors - these people have contact with general practices who are part of the trial, dealing with any problems, teaching the practice members what they need to know about the drug and trial. there are other posts too that you can work in "clinical trial associates" "(clinical) research nurses".

Some examples of CROs are Quintiles, Covance, I3statprobe, and there are lots of others, just search on google.
