Hi I am nearly finished my degree in film and media at sunderland uni. I want to get into the media industry but im not sure how to. i am interested in being a runner for a tv studio eventually developing my skills to working as camera operator or lighting technichan. however my cv just lists my education history and employment history which is a bar job i have had for 4 years. should i send my cv away to companies listing the modules i have studied relavent to tv production or is there anything more specific required? what tv studios are in the north east area? thanks in advance for any information given :p

I'd say the best thing for you to do is jin a Media recruitment agency. I'm not too clued up on the north east, however tons exist in London and so there must be quite a few up there. Look up recruitment agencies on the net in your area. You may have to start lower then a runner and think of post room or even reception. That's how I started. i also joined an extra's agency. So i would be cast as the normal folk in the back of TV shows and Music videos and adds, but this way i got to meet tons of production people and eventually became a runner. Oh and definitely submit your CV to production companies and film studios. They're always looking for graduates to take advantage of. Offer yourself on free internships for a while and carry on the bar job. These kinds of things are a good foot in the door thing! Good Luck!

Definitely try media agencies- but they will try to get you into media sales- as this is the main earner for them. The best idea is to send your cv [with no irrelevant
