how much notice do i have to LEGALLY give

Hi ive been employed by my company nearly 3 months but ive got another job i want to start asap. however i dont know my notice period as the pages arent there in my contract.
I know a proper employee has to give 4 weeks notice but i dont want to do that. can anyone help

The general (although by no means universal) rule is that if you ask your employer if you can leave before your notice is up, you should not expect to get paid for the part of your notice you don't serve.
