if you are leaving part way through a month it will be calculated to take that in so you may get paid 9.5 days or something

No unfortunatley not.
To calculate how much you will receive, divide your holiday entitlement number of days by 52 and multiply it by the number of weeks you will have completed this year.
eg If you are entitled to 4 weeks holiday and your year started at the beginning of April, if you leave in 2 weeks time you will have completed say 6 weeks
4 weeks = 20 days
20/52 = 0.38 days
0.38 x 6 weeks = 2.3 days
This is very approximate but gives you a rough idea.
