Without writing it all out or knowing how long an answer you need give, why not google "Customer Service Training" - look at what the courses provide and cherry pick some ideas.
Professionally it would ensure that you were able to meet the high expectations of your employers business and of their customers , whilst personally it would support you in achieving a standard of customer service that would give you a higher level confidence and success in your role.
I don't think you can teach politeness, common sense or efficiency. In my opinion that's all you need for most things involving the general public. (That and a hammer).
Agree with you China.

I have a qualification in Customer Service and what a lot of old nonsense it is.
I am with you on that China - where I work we have a lot of casuals (mostly students) dealing with the gen public - its is embarrasing sometimes to hear them. I feel like reminding them who pays their wages
Mind you SOME of the older staff aren't much better
I got my qualification in customer service because I worked for an organisation who insisted we all get it. I was 58 at the time!! It was laughable actually.
I've got to go on equality and diversity training next week... I have explained to my manager that I dislike most people regardless of sex, age, religion etc but apparently if she's got to go then so do I. I suspect this sort of training is pretty useless too. If you're not aware or are too ignorant to treat someone with respect simply because they're a fellow human being then going on a course like this is only going to irritate you further rather than make you think 'ahhh, we're different but it's ok' <eye roll>
China, I have been on so many bloody equality and diversity courses over the years in various employment. Total waste of time too ;o).
China - The traits you mention politeness etc are surely not something we are born with, so we must have learnt / been taught them at some stage?
I once failed a Cutomer Care course :-(
Hopefully by whoever brings us up though, not on a customer services course. By then it is too late. In my opinion rude people who don't know how to deal with others just don't change. They shouldn't be in any jobs that have customer interface. No amount of training will change them

(Learnt from years of experience!)
^^^ What LL said.

How can you possibly fail it craft? You didn't tell the course tutor it was a useless waste of time? I failed a course doing that once.
LOL at Craft
I was told I was too abrupt..............it wasn't what I said it was the way I said it. Funnily I used to have the top figures for sorting out the most customer problems.
