Discrimination against a able bodied person in favour of a disabled person

We hear all about discrimination against the disabled, how about the other way round? I know of someone who was married for 36 years, worked for 36 years and times working 3 jobs to give his wife a nice life. His now ex wife stopped working before they married. Unfortunately after 10 years of marriage she started to lose her sight. Two years ago the husband left his wife, he had been unhappy for the last ten years of the marriage but stayed as he was what people would say leaving a disabled woman. He left with only his personal possessions, no car (which meant no job as he had to have a car to carry on with his job) and very little money, but he said that was better than staying with a wife who made his life unbearable. Now the Judge has decided because his wife is disabled, she has been given the house (which is paid for), the contents, all the savings and everything that was accrued during the marriage. He has been given £15,000 plus he has to pay his solicitor out of that. Oh and she doesn't have to pay her solicitor as she is on disability benefits. Tell me if you think that is fair because i don't!

quite frankly, the husband has earning ability, the wife does not.

Sounds fair enough to me --- he has theability to find work and to move on to another relationship if he wants to do so. His ex wife's opportunities to do the same are very much less.
