As you know I have been medically retired for a number of years and in the past 2 years I have helped out a very dear friend who is undergoing Chemotherapy with copy typing. She types for 2 gentlemen. Two Drs - who is an academic and the other who types database which I could not do nor want to do.

However whilst the other guy's work used to come in bulk I did enjoy doing it through the miserable months of our winters - his work was daunting I did enjoy it - copy typing - only. But now I believe he has learnt to use the lap top and no longer needs us - can anybody tell me what site to go on to look for copy typing at home. When I googled it took me to various sites ie London, Bromley, I live in Ireland. Any answers would be grateful. Thank you

PS I do know a girl she works privately for a doctor but would not like to ask her how to go about it. Thanks once again

I'd suggest you ask a friendly receptionist at your local hospital if they could help.
Good luck but I'm afraid I would expect there to be very little of this work available now. Where work is available- eg from a doctor- it will usually go to someone thedoctor knows personally. She needs to be very careful about signing up to sites that offer to provide typing work but require her to pay some sort of fee. Maybe she should ask her two current clients if they have any colleagues who need typing doing
Jobs & education seems fitting.

I would enquire at nearby universities.
ooh very good thought Ed, (about the University thingy)

but these doctors were not medically - so surely there is some kind of other scope for typing as students and doctors dont have time to type these things. I did use to do theses for young fellows. But since I fell away from work dont where to turn
Sadly for you, connemmara, they do - everything is done straight on to the computer these days, all students have university accounts. However - there are some big companies whose bosses still dictate, and some health organisations too - where dictation is sent on-line to India to transcribe. I think your best bet would be to contact one or more of the big employment/temp agencies and see if they get asked for this type of work - here we have Reed, Office Angels, etc., not sure if you have them in Ireland - and see if they can contract any such work out to you. Good luck with it, it is great to keep your hand in!
Also, you do need to be careful - some of the sites advertising home typing - envelopes and the like - offer rubbish rates and you often have to pay for materials up front. A good temp agency should resolve that, and pay you a fair hourly rate.
Colleges of Further (& Higher) Education often employ amanuenses for students with learning difficulties/physical disabilities.
It might be worth your while to enquire before the semesters begin.
Hi I thought I posted a reply but can't see it so apologies if this comes up twice! Try these people: http://outsec.co.uk/w...-us/typists-faqs.html
Good luck Connemara :-)
