8 Answers
i had a conviction in 1984 when i was young and stupid for which i recieved 2 years sentence for g.b.h ( its spent ) . i now need to get away from uk to get work. i am prepared to go anywhere for work, i am a welder and scaffolder and i have an offshore b.o.i.s.e.t survival certificate to enable me to work on oil and gas platforms. anyway as i say i need work but am worried about my conviction. i have both uk and irish passports. the conviction was in uk ( not ireland) so therefore can i use my irish passport to apply for visa as i wont be telling any lies because ive never had a conviction in ireland and aussie embassy will not know ?
advice please . thanks

ya copy and paste of Beunchico's reply - your conviction is not spent for the attention of cathfromsaron
"I can't work out why you're applying via a commercial organisation (which will cost you extra and introduce the possibility of wasting your money) when you should be applying directly to the Australian High Commission in London (or in Dublin).

PS: Overseas governments don't recognise the UK's Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, so convictions are never regarded as 'spent' when applying for visas."

i will apply an be truthfull but if app doesnt ask me then i will not declare but im sure it will. though the question is this - the conviction was in uk , i am applying with my irish / southern ireland passport so do i need to declare uk conviction? its like if i was in africa in 1984 and had a conviction , obviously it would not show up ( 2 different countries ) no data on there records ?
