We want to become self employed and move away to start a holiday park. Established parks are very expensive and we agree with our bank that the best way to do it would be to buy a smallholding and convert it, which would obviously take a year or so to establish, on top of which, we would have to sell our current house to raise funds.
However, there is always the chance that permission for change of use would be refused, then we would be stuck with a smallholding, no jobs, etc. Is there any way of finding out whether permission would be granted or refused beforehand so that we wouldn't lose everything?
Thank you so much for your advice, In a Pickle. I have been in touch with the council and am waiting to hear from them. Hopefully it will be a positive reply, because it is a tourist area we want to move to, but then again, maybe they think they have enough parks anyway ... I'll find out soon, hopefully. If that council has a 'no' policy, I'll remember not to try Sussex/Kent when I go to the next on my list!
