What right have they got to dictate to the council where their coastal path should go?

/// Travellers on the site - opened 30 years ago - say they would be prepared to take the law into their own hands to block the path.///

/// "We have got children on this site and who knows what kind of people could walk past. ///

/// "I'm not being funny, but you don't/dot know what type of person could use it - there could be drug dealers or
paedophiles." ///

Perhaps the ramblers should also be careful when walking the path, there could be travellers as well, who knows what type of people they are.

well AOG, this creates a bit of a dilema. Pikies are lowlife parasites and the weird beards are annoying lefties, tricky one!
If they have been there for 30 years how are the Travellers?
I now have visions of the 'travellers' charging a path toll..............

Dilemma? Only to those who state such things.
Jeremy Clarkson has been trying to stop the beards walking past his lounge window for years. He made the path go further from his lounge window that's all but they kicked up a stink anyway and insisted on looking in his front window. Both groups are annoying.
I'm with the ramblers and, once again, 'travellers' not travelling!
I agree Kayless - the right to roam legislation of a few years ago has made the flask wielding, bobble hatted buffoons into militant ramblers.

But that said, they are the lesser of the two evils so I'd back them against the pikies.
I have a pavement running past my front door. All sorts of weirdos, psycopaths, creeps, drug dealers and paedophiles probably use it. They can all see into my front room. Perhaps I should get it diverted.
LOL NJ, you must live near me, then!
Where is the Ramblers Association when you need them. Walking past this eyesore affects more than a few travellers.

true, but imagine that pavement wasn't there and some bloke from the council decided to put one in. would you not be a little miffed ?

"The path would offer uninterrupted views of the Bristol Channel, but also take in a Tesco Extra, Welsh Water sewage treatment works and a major steelworks factory and pass within just a few metres of the gypsy and traveller camp."

i bet the ramblers willl be scrambling to take that view in.
Oh dear, they are more likely more worried that ramblers might see their ill gotten gains. The land belongs to the council not them.
Another case of a minority group demanding "rights" which the general public don't have.

There will be many people along the proposed route who don't want it near their property, but can't do anything about it.
