She sent it back to me and it seems all my contacts in this account have received the same. My gut feel is to close down the account but I use it for work related mails and it is important for me getting contract work.
Any help gratefully received as to what I should do about this....

Just change your password for the account.

And dont use the same password on OTHER accounts such as for web sites.

If you register for a dodgy web site they can easily steal your password and logon to your email system (if you use the same password on both)
