receiving a recruitment call at your workplace...

Has anyone else ever had a recruitment company call you at your workplace(using your name) to offer you a job opportunity?? i've known this to happen in my workplace,a pharmacy, a handful of times over the yrs but the last time it happened to me and i must admit i was very curious and tempted to hear more as i'm looking for pastures new but felt weary of their tactics. has this ever happened to you and did you look into the offer at all...is it genuine or a scam?...
i'm also wondering about the 'jobsearch' sites. are they worth a whirl??....
i seriously need a change after 12+ yrs in the same employment in a company that is no longer a pleasure to work for. :O(

I've known it happen. A while back I got a call, turned out a former colleague of mine got a new job through an agency, the agency asked if she could recommend anyone else for similar vacancies they had for other clients and she suggested me. Best call I ever took. I'm now the boss and the crowd I was working for when taking the call have since gone to the wall.

I've had emails, not phone calls - but since I love the job I'm in, I've never looked into it.

Jobsearch sites are OK - but a bit like the car insurance websites, not all jobs are advertised on there, not all companies sign up - and you should never pay a fee of any sort to join though.

umm sounds interesting spikeybush. i may have to give them a call back.
and boxtops that's exactly how i've been when it's happened in the past... a bit of an ego boost to get a recruitment call but i wouldn't even start to consider it because i was perfectly happy in my job...unfortunately the workplace has changed for the worse so now i am seriously curious to what it could lead to.
