I have a young familly, no mortgage and have you have to change jobs because I get moved around too much at short notice. Could be in Scotland 1 week and wales the next. No good for a familly.
I have been offered 2 jobs. One in hull which is a better company with better prospects. Not more money than what I am on but just better prospects.
The other job is working through an agency and it is based out in the south of france. It is working on the biggest nuclear new technology project in the world. The money is at least double what I am getting now. The France job is a years contract which should be more. But working through an agency they could just get rid of me easily when ever they want.

what would you do?
I would look at the education stages my children were at and I would also discuss it with my spouse. This decision will affect my whole family, so its with them that my final decision would lie. I would not be afraid to say no to either job.

You've got a job on ITER?
Grab it - worked at Culham during the JET program great atmosphere
Opportunities to work on leading edge stuff like that don't come knocking a second time - if you turn it down you'll always regret it and tell people how you nearly wen to work in the South of France on a huge international project.
